Lufthansa Group to Expand Nigeria Operations With Eurowings

Lufthansa Group to Expand Nigeria Operations With Eurowings
Just weeks after Nigeria strengthened its aviation relationship with Canada, the Lufthansa Group is planning to expand its operations in Nigeria with Eurowings, its value airline.

The plan was discussed in Abuja during a meeting between a Lufthansa Group delegation led by Alexandra Dietzen Zill, Senior Manager for Aeropolitical Relations and Traffic Rights, and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

The discussions also covered the Nigeria Germany Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), which governs air services between both countries.

What Does This Mean for Nigerians?

If the plan goes ahead, Eurowings could give Nigerians another option for flights between Nigeria and Germany, alongside existing Lufthansa services.

As a value focused airline within the Lufthansa Group, Eurowings could also introduce more competitive fares and different travel options for Nigerians travelling to Germany for business, tourism, education and family visits.

However, it is important to note that Eurowings has not started operations in Nigeria yet, so the actual routes, schedules and ticket prices are still to be announced.

The planned expansion could also strengthen Nigeria Germany air connectivity and increase competition within the market.

For Nigerian travellers, the potential arrival of Eurowings is one to watch. More airlines serving the market could ultimately mean more choice, more competition and potentially better travel options.
