Etihad and Ibom Air Sign Interline Agreement to Connect Five Nigerian Cities

Etihad and Ibom Air Sign Interline Agreement to Connect Five Nigerian Cities
Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, and Ibom Air, a Nigerian state owned airline, have signed an interline agreement that will connect five Nigerian cities to Etihad’s international network. The agreement will allow passengers travelling through Lagos or Accra to access Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Enugu on a single ticket.

The agreement means passengers can book their entire journey together, with their baggage checked through to their final destination. Connections between Accra and Abuja, as well as Accra and Uyo, will also be available. Tickets combining Etihad and Ibom Air services are scheduled to go on sale from November 3, 2026.

Etihad plans to begin its daily service between Abu Dhabi and Lagos on March 23, 2027, followed by four weekly services between Abu Dhabi and Accra from March 24, 2027. The Ibom Air connections will become available alongside the launch of Etihad’s Lagos and Accra services.

What Does This Mean for Nigerians?

Travelling to Abu Dhabi and other destinations on Etihad’s international network from Uyo, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Calabar will become more convenient. Passengers can book their connecting journey on a single ticket and have their baggage checked through to their final destination, reducing the stress associated with arranging separate tickets and connections.

This is another development for Nigerian aviation and Nigerian travellers, as the agreement gives more Nigerians access to Etihad’s international network while making connections from more Nigerian cities simpler.
