Air Canada to Begin Direct Flights to Lagos in 2027
Last month, we wrote about the new expanded air transport agreement between Canada and Nigeria. Following this agreement, Air Canada plans to launch scheduled flights to Lagos in 2027.
According to Transport Canada, Nigeria was Canada’s 38th largest international air transport market in 2025 and its third largest bilateral market in Africa. The air transport market between both countries has more than doubled over the past decade, driven by the Nigerian community in Canada as well as educational and business links amongst others.
While Air Canada has started seeking government approvals to operate flights to Nigeria, the frequency of flights and aircraft types to be used have not yet been disclosed.
Canada has long been a dream destination for many Nigerians, and the planned Air Canada Lagos route could make travel between Nigeria and Canada more convenient by providing a direct flight option from Lagos.
